Starting a basketball team in Deheisheh camp meant overcoming a number of challenges, including a lack of enthusiasm for the sport, which was not usually played in the camp, partly because of a lack of facilities and partly because of limited interest in the professional teams in the area. The formation of a female team was also hindered by the fact that many families had reservations about their daughters taking part in a team sport.
